| Abstract: | This presentation will provide an update on weed control research in Virginia and a discussion of some important invasive weed species that are common problems on Virginia highways. Species of interest include Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), mile-a-minute (Polygonum perfoliatum), kudzu (Peureria montana), tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima), giant reed (Phragmites australis), and spotted knapweed (Centaurea maculata). A follow up discussion was provided to show the audience the www.turfweeds.net web site and discuss future plans for a VDOT Roadside Research web site. |
