Turf Weeds was developed to provide weed management information and newsearch reports to turfgrass managers.  This site contains information on weed identification, chemical and cultural management of weeds, and current topics relevant to weed management in lawns and professional turf.  Turf Weeds was created  by Dr. Shawn Askew, Assistant Professor of Turfgrass Weed Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.

This presentation will provide an update on weed control research in Virginia and a discussion of some important invasive weed species that are common problems on Virginia highways. Species of interest include Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), mile-a-minute (Polygonum perfoliatum), kudzu (Peureria montana), tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima), giant reed (Phragmites australis), and spotted knapweed (Centaurea maculata). A follow up discussion was provided to show the audience the www.turfweeds.net web site and discuss future plans for a VDOT Roadside Research web site.
